The Connection Between Technology And Childhood Obesity

Today, it is hard to imagine life without a computer or television and other electronic gadgets that have become so commonplace since the advent of modern technology that it is leaving us and our children with little time to enjoy nature and the outdoors. Not so long ago, parents derived much pleasure from seeing their kids cavorting in the outdoors beneath the sun or climbing trees and remaining somewhat more active than the kids of today who have found a virtual world in which to remain engrossed. Thus, technology and childhood obesity are closely related because we have now become accustomed to having our eyes glued to the computer screen or television screen and are otherwise taken up with different forms of electronic entertainment.

Boob-Tube And More Boob-Tube

The new lifestyle that has taken over our children’s lives leaves little time for them to exercise, go out and remain otherwise active and it is far removed from the lifestyle our parents enjoyed many years ago. Along with the sedentary life that our children have become accustomed to, technology and childhood obesity have become closely intertwined and our concern for our health has also taken a backseat as the life in front of the boob-tube continues to take up all of our children’s time at the expense of their health.

It is thus imperative to understand the reason why technology and childhood obesity are going hand in hand, and when one considers the fact that child obesity has gone up by more than three times in the recent past, the problem has actually now reached epidemic proportions and it seems that now we are breeding obesity in our homes as we are letting our children spend all of their time in front of the television or other electronic devices.

The fact is that when we and our children sit immobile for hours on end watching television or working on the computer or playing video games, we neglect to exercise and along with a diet consisting of sodas and fast foods are breeding obesity like never before. Thus, technology and childhood obesity are causing our children to eat more, exercise less and live sedentary lifestyles which is a cocktail that only serves up more obese children in our population today.

No doubt, there are a number of other factors too that contribute to obesity, but television is a prime example of how technology and childhood obesity combine to the detriment of our health. Staying glued to the television will mean a lack of exercise, focusing on excessive eating followed by an unhealthy lifestyle and thus contributing to furthering the incidence of obesity in our children.

Television and the computer are prime examples of how technology and childhood obesity are making kids do things that are bad for them and if you want your kid to not become obese, you should discourage him from watching too much television, which is a major reason why children become obese, and to also address obesity as a health problem which needs to be addressed and not to consider obesity as merely being a problem with how the child looks.

New Home Construction Technology

Its Built with Styrofoam Panels

Marquis Construction thinks they have found a way to meet their own needs and their buyers’. They build with SIPs – 4 & 6-inch-thick sections of EPS foam, like the material from which coffee cups are made, sandwiched between sheets of galvanized steel.

The panels, 4 feet wide, snap together with a T&G joint so they can be assembled quickly by workers. The foam is laminated between sheets of steel.

The panels, known as SIPs, have been around for 60 years, but only in the last ten years have they begun to be used in mainstream of construction

“It’s a thermal and structural shell,” the builder said homes are certified to withstand winds up to 140 mph, making it hurricane worthy. The absence of wood means it is inhospitable to termites. “There’s no food value there,”

Marquis says their customers “immediately grasp the concept that a solid foam-core house has got to be much more energy efficient than conventional . It really sells itself.”

In addition to energy efficiency, the steel panels provide a cleaner IAQ, mold resistive environment. They carry a 20 year corrosion warranty. They surpass Florida’s hurricane codes, are impact tested and used for hurricane shelter construction in Ft, Meyers, FL.
Steel SIPs construction will reduce insurance premiums up to 53% in hurricane prone areas over wood frame construction.

Panels are easily and readily available for delivery through out the southeast US with a 2 week lead time.

Bluetec Technology

We all appreciate what Mercedes Benz have offered its customers over
the years, and because of these specifications it has brought the
consumers back with their hats off to one of the most beautifully designed
cars of our time. Now if we thought that there was nothing else Mercedes
Benz could do, they just topped the cake with a cherry with the latest
bluetec technology.

This ground-breaking technology undoubtedly cuts the diesel emissions
down, and this makes the vehicles the cleanest diesel cars on any part
of the planet and in any category. This allows the diesel vehicles of
Mercedes to meet the strictest emission standards in the world. The air
pollution concerning the world caused by emissions from vehicles, and
the constant rising of fuel prices makes the Gelber Engel (Yellow Angel)
Award given to Mercedes Benz for Innovation extremely important.

With Bluetec Technology a number of measures are combined. These are
the engine modifications, and this reduces any untreated emissions and
the exhaust gas after a treatment services. With Bluetec Technology fuel
consumption is reduced by 20%-40% and this is comparing them to many of
the other vehicles. This also improves the range, the pulling power and
the economy of the vehicles.

Apart from the Bluetec Technology, the night-view system assisting the
Mercedes Benz has also been recognized in the award contest for
Innovation. With the mentioned night system drivers’ vision is extended at
night with the help of an infrared camera and infrared beams.

This is a true addition to green cars, and with the technology from
Bluetec Mercedes Benz has made this possible. Air pollution from the
emissions of most vehicles on the roads today, Mercedes has proved to be
most popular when it comes to being nature-friendly.

Mind Technology – Technology vs Nature

Over time technology has helped man to move his physical body and things faster and faster and to more and more places he couldn’t go before.

Now technology is able to help man move his mind faster and to more places in the same way. This technology is Mind Technology.

Mind technology is developed from other technologies upon which it is based upon and which makes this possible. Technology such as electricity, electronic audio and computer.

What was once done at normal speed in the traditional way can now be accelerated to hyper speeds with technology. It is like being able to travel in a supersonic jet when you once had to walk.

Some people think it is best to do things the natural way than to rely on technology. But would you want to walk from one end of the Earth to another when you could fly there in a supersonic jet? You would not even think of doing that!

It is possible to walk from one end of the Earth to the other though, since all land is connected to each other from the North pole. The Earth is actually one flat piece of land wrapped around a sphere and not separate pieces across the globe. But without technology, we cannot travel to the deepest parts of the ocean or even to the moon.

The moment technology is developed, we got to use it. We either progress or regress. We never stand still. Advancement of technology is the result of advancement in knowledge. Changing the way we do things by adapting technology is the natural way of evolving our lives.

Of course, just because we have a supersonic jet, a car or even a motorized wheelchair to use doesn’t mean we do not train our ability to walk anymore. We still use what is natural but we incorporate the use of technology as well. So the best way to live is to use both nature and technology. We should never let technology dominate our natural abilities but we should use it to enhance them.

Technology is the natural result of man’s ability to think. So technology is actually part of nature. Technology and nature are one. The only difference between what is natural and unnatural is the use of it. Even things in nature can be used in unnatural ways.

Man has used the power of the mind to develop technology. Consequently man is able to use the power of technology to develop the mind. Mind develops technology to develop mind. At this age, humanity’s progress is going to accelerate even more than ever before.

A man was found to have virtually no brain at all. His head was bigger than normal size but his brain had shrunk to less than one millimeter of cerebral tissue covering the top of his spinal column. The student was suffering from hydrocephalus, the condition in which the cerebrospinal fluid, instead of circulating around the brain and entering the bloodstream, becomes dammed up inside thereby squashing the brain. His head was practically filled with fluid.

The 26 year old student (1976) at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom had walked into the university doctor’s office with complaints of a cold. Somehow though, he had lived a perfectly normal life. He had no signs of any mental deficiency, had an IQ of 126 and an honors degree in mathematics!

The brain is actually a receiver and not the total warehouse storing our consciousness. The brain is simply an instrument for the mind to communicate with the body. But the mind is not limited by the brain. It can even communicate with the body directly through nonlocal means.

You are not flesh. You are an energy being using a physical body to interpret and explore this reality. Studying matter from the perspective of energy helps you to understand and work with it even better.

Mind technology goes beyond the brain. It assist in unleashing the paranormal powers of the mind. With it, you can meditate at the push of a button, increase mental health, open up the sixth sense and sharpen your psychic abilities.

Has Technology Changed Our Lives?

This is the information age. The advent of the Internet has made global communication inexpensive and available to everyone. It has affected the very way we communicate and transact. The information age has made businesses compete in an almost level playing field. These days, you can have your website optimized by an SEO expert so that the website can even be read in welsh. We are in the days where we can purchase things using our personal computer, where we can talk, hear and see loved ones or ones we want to love over web cameras. The convergence of technology has made cell phones become almost a part of us and overseas telephone communication cost has gone down especially with telephony and the like. We are all connected in that sense and the cost of personal computers have gone down to sub 1000 dollars and even sub 500 dollar levels. You can even get a pretty good net book for less than 500 dollars. The question is if we are too dependent on technology these days?

The answer is: it depends. We have used technology to make more informed choices in so many fields. Because of technology, there is less need for invasive surgery to see which areas need to be repaired. Scanning technology has enabled doctors to see inside of men and in three dimensions, giving them a clearer and better picture of the diseased part. In this area, technology has been helpful. In another matter, the answer is yes. The use of calculators has made us lazy to add, subtract and divide and it has in one sense, made us spoiled. It has however expedited matters and made us more efficient in calculating in areas in astro physics and quantum mechanics. With the aid of technology, man has ventured into space and beyond.

Has technology been helpful to society in general? Technology is a double edged sword and it can be used for good or evil. In this sense, technology is and will always be a tool, an aid for man. It is perhaps up to man to do whatever he wishes to do so. The Internet was initially developed for military purposes as a way to detonate a bomb or launch a missile when all forms of telephone communications were down. The Internet would find a way through a series of nodes and communication channels, most of them submerged in the ocean through submarine cables, to enable someone to launch something. Now, from the military usage, the Internet has become a global library, a communication tool, an instant post office, and even a buying station. It is what it is for we make it what it is.

Importance of Technology in Business

Technology plays a vital role in business. Over the years businesses have become dependent on technology so much so that if we were to take away that technology virtually all business operations around the globe would come to a grinding halt. Almost all businesses and industries around the world are using computers ranging from the most basic to the most complex of operations.

Technology played a key role in the growth of commerce and trade around the world. It is true that we have been doing business since time immemorial, long before there were computers; starting from the simple concept of barter trade when the concept of a currency was not yet introduced but trade and commerce was still slow up until the point when the computer revolution changed everything. Almost all businesses are dependent on technology on all levels from research and development, production and all the way to delivery. Small to large scale enterprises depend on computers to help them with their business needs ranging from Point of Sales systems, information management systems capable of handling all kinds of information such as employee profile, client profile, accounting and tracking, automation systems for use in large scale production of commodities, package sorting, assembly lines, all the way to marketing and communications. It doesn’t end there, all these commodities also need to be transported by sea, land, and air. Just to transport your commodities by land already requires the use of multiple systems to allow for fast, efficient and safe transportation of commodities.

Without this technology the idea of globalization wouldn’t have become a reality. Now all enterprises have the potential to go international through the use of the internet. If your business has a website, that marketing tool will allow your business to reach clients across thousands of miles with just a click of a button. This would not be possible without the internet. Technology allowed businesses to grow and expand in ways never thought possible.

The role that technology plays for the business sector cannot be taken for granted. If we were to take away that technology trade and commerce around the world will come to a standstill and the global economy would collapse. It is nearly impossible for one to conduct business without the aid of technology in one form or another. Almost every aspect of business is heavily influenced by technology. Technology has become very important that it has become a huge industry itself from computer hardware manufacturing, to software design and development, and robotics. Technology has become a billion dollar industry for a number of individuals.

The next time you browse a website to purchase or swipe a credit card to pay for something you just bought, try to imagine how that particular purchase would have happened if it were to take place without the aid of modern technology. That could prove to be a bit difficult to imagine. Without all the technology that we are enjoying now it would be like living in the 60′s again. No computers, no cellular phones, no internet. That is how important technology is in business.
