How to Write a Newspaper Article Quickly and Easily!
Articles in a newspaper are quick and to the point, not infused with a whole lot of personal opinion or evaluation, and tend towards the facts plain and simple as you can possibly imagine. This style may not seem like a lot of fun to write, but it is one of the most important types of stories and writing skills that you could possibly have. After all, newspapers employ more writers than any other writing industry, and even most companies who are not in the writing industry will look to hire people for writing newspaper articles. So, if you’re a writer, then you need to learn how to write a newspaper article quickly. And if you need to learn how to write newspaper article quickly, then follow this simple guide.
All good newspaper articles start off with a good headline that will entice the reader to follow up and read the whole article, so it would be remiss of me not to cover the basics in this how-to guide for writing newspaper articles. The type of headline will likely be determined by your placement in the newspaper if you write for a physical product, so make sure to have plenty handy. If your article is to appear on the cover, something enticing will work well, however, if you’re stuck on the inside pages, you need to stick to the facts and write a more generic title. Your title also might need to be shortened depending on what kind of space has been allotted for your article. For online magazines and publications, you should find a more enticing title that will tell them about the key idea of your article, but mention that it contains a “surprise” or a “secret.” These two words drive more clicks than you can possibly imagine, and work very well for driving people to your articles.
For the body of the article, you need to find some good quotes from interviews. Nothing brings people in like quotes. It will make your article more personable and give it a human quality, plus it allows you to break the flow of facts.
There should be no more than three sentences per paragraph. If you have more to add about a particular topic, you should revisit it after a relevant quote or at the end of the article. Your article will be cramped into a corner and put in thin columns, so writing with short paragraphs will look more appealing and readable. Most people forget this, and will write long and interesting paragraphs, full of information, but will wonder why so many people skip reading them.
The last thing you need to know about how to write newspaper articles is that your article should contain a picture. Words are less powerful than a picture, and a captivating picture will make or break your readability. Without a picture, your article looks dry and unimportant. With a picture, you will suddenly gain notoriety and visibility.
If you follow those simple steps, then you will have learned the basics of how to write a newspaper article, and you can write a newspaper article quickly and easily. If you want to learn how to make some money with your newspaper articles, then click here to learn how to make money with your newspaper articles.
What is SEO Article Writing? – SEO Copywriting Explained
Many freelancers have questions about what is SEO; what is SEO copywriting; what is SEO writing. This article explains – in detail – what this is. And, how to make money from it as a freelance writer.
What is SEO?
SEO is an acronym for the phrase “search engine optimization.” Search engine optimization is all about doing specific things to your website to drive more traffic to it so that you can increase online sales – and traffic.
What are some of these “things?”
There are many, but here we will discuss what it is as it applies to freelance writers. And, this means writing text in a certain way so that web surfers (ie, internet users) can land on a particular site.
What is SEO As It Relates to Freelance Writers?
What freelance writers need to be concerned with is keywords. What are keywords? Keywords are the words and phrases that web surfers type in when they search for things online.
For example, let’s say you were interested in starting a foreclosure cleanup business. You may not know anything about it other than foreclosures are hot in the news right now and you are interested in starting this kind of company.
So, you log onto your favorite search engine, (eg, Google, Yahoo! MSN, etc.) and type in the keywords “foreclosure cleaning business” or “foreclosure cleaning” or “foreclosure cleanup” or some other relevant keyword phrase.
Note: When you type words into a search engine to find something on the internet, the words you type in are called a keyword (one word) or a keyword phrase (two or more words with commas in between).
How Businesses Get to the Top of Search Engine Results
When you type in these words and hit “ENTER”, a bunch of sites pop up and you start to surf (ie, click on the results) and start investigating the sites to see if they have the information you need.
The sites that pop up are the results that search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, et al think are the most relevant to the keyword phrase (aka search phrase) you typed in. Companies pay a lot of money to be among the first two or three pages in the results that search engines return.
Why SEO Copywriters are So In Demand and How They Make Their Money
One of the ways they get to pop up in the first two or three pages of results is to have relevant text that contains the proper keyword phrases. And, this is where you as an SEO copywriter can make a lot of money. You write the text that their site needs to pop up high in search engine results.
Many times, companies will simply give you a bunch of keyword phrases and let you write what you want — as long as it’s a certain length (usually 300-500 words).
There are many freelance writers – hundreds of thousands, if not a few million. BUT, only a tiny minority know what SEO is and how to write this type of copy. And, this is why they’re so in demand.
SEO copywriters have an in-demand skill. And, as more and more companies move larger portions of their advertising budgets to internet marketing, there is an even greater demand for their skills.
In the SearcheEngineWatch article, The SEO Copywriter: Wordsmithing the Web, William Flaiz, underscores the importance of an SEO copywriter. He writes:
“The role of the agency SEO copywriter is unique because…. Suddenly, the writer must optimize press releases, craft articles for social news, monitor social network communications, and develop wiki content…. a strong SEO copywriter is adaptable and capable of internalizing a lot of new information extremely quickly. These unique individuals have fast become the backbone of many SEO engagements. If content is king, then they [SEO copywriters] are the kingmakers.”
And this is why SEO copywriters can charge a premium for their services. If you’re looking for a way to start or maximize your income as an online freelance writer, then SEO copywriting is they way to go.
Search Engine Optimization for Affiliate Marketing
In this article, we would like to give you an overview of search engine optimization, which is one of the most important and most powerful ways to generate traffic to your website for the long-term.
What exactly is search engine optimization?
Simply put, search engine optimization (or SEO) is the process of setting up your site properly to improve your search engine ranking. Now, Google and other search engines do not reveal their exact formulas for determining which websites show up at the top of their results. Nevertheless, SEO experts have been able to study this for many years and have pretty much come to an agreement about what it takes to get more traffic from search engines.
On page optimization
The first step to getting more traffic from Google and other search engines is to make sure you have performed proper on-page optimization. What this means is that the keyword phrase you want to rank for should show up on your webpage in specific places. For one thing, the keyword phrase should be in your title tag and a header tag at the top of your page. In addition, the keyword phrases should show up early on in the first paragraph of your article, and perhaps a few more times throughout the page (depending on the length of your article).
You definitely don’t want to overdo this by including your desired keyword phrase, say, 10 times in a short 300 word article. This would be really obvious to Google that you are simply stuffing keyword phrases in order to improve your rankings, and this kind of tactic no longer works.
Off page optimization is the real key to improving search engine rankings.
The most important factor to improving your rankings according to most experts is off page optimization. In other words, the more inbound links you have coming back to your website, the better chances you have of getting a high search engine ranking. Generally speaking, the more links you have the better, but you also want these links to have the correct anchor text. That is a fancy way of saying that the actual text that makes up the link should include your keyword phrase.
There are other factors involved, such as the importance and relevance of the websites linking to you. For example, a link from the Wall Street Journal would be considered much more important than a link from your friend’s blog (unless your friend happens to be a very well- known blogger!). Also, a link from a major website in your industry would be a more valuable than any from a website in a different niche.
Nevertheless, all of the links we mentioned above would still be valuable.
There are a number of other factors involved in search engine rankings, including the age of your domain, but links are probably the biggest factor (and it’s one that you can influence to a large extent).
How to Use Long Tail Search to Find Keywords With Less Search Engine Positioning Competition
You need to have great reader content and more back links in order to gain a website’s competitive advantage above the websites that are competing for a high search engine ranking on the same keyword or search phrase. This task can be daunting if you are looking at high competition keywords. The answer is to focus your attention on creating search engine optimized web pages for long tail keywords.
LONG TAIL KEYWORD MARKETING:
Keywords are the phrases that people type into their browsers when they search for information online. Long tail keywords are those phrases that are made up of 3 words or more. Normally the longer the tail the better chance you may have to rank your website for that term. Most website owners promote their websites for the big fish – the keywords that are typed in 1000′s of times a day. They have a much harder marketing job cut out for them because of the huge amount of websites also competing for those big fish.
With the same smaller amount of searches among the long tail phrases you do not just have that much a bigger chance to rank better in the search results pages. You also find that the longer the search phrases the better the chances of sales as these terms are more focused. If your site supplies the answer through a product or service that solves the problem or answer the 5 word question or search term, you are likely to end up with a sale.
KEYWORD RESEARCH:
To establish the profitability of a phrase you have to research the amount of searches and the related long tail search phrases. This is made easy by various research software packages. While they offer quick calculations and easier ways to find highly profitable phrases, you can still do free online research.
Using PDF Search Function
Most of us are familiar with PDF documents or “Portable Document Format”. Authors like saving their work as PDF’s because they can protect their copyright making the final work “read only”.
Adobe invented the format and their reader is available for free online so the pdf reader is universally available and many programs will ‘save as’ pdf, so the format has quickly become ubiquitous. But many users, i.e. readers of e-books are not aware that there are other functions besides reading and printing. They think that because the document has security features they cannot carry out searches, for example. I will talk about security features in another article, but let’s start here with Search and Find.
Search and Find.
If you are looking for a keyword in the pdf document you have open, it is a simple thing to hit CTRL+ F together and a window pops up in the menu bar. Mine is coloured green. (I am using Adobe reader 9.4).
Just type in the word or phrase and hit enter.
You can also use the arrows which appear next to the search box. You can search for ‘next’ or ‘previous’ instance of the word.
The drop down menu attached to the search box( ↓) also has more options to tick. I leave it up to you to explore this feature.
You can also get the FIND function from the drop down menu under EDIT in the top bar of Adobe reader if you forget CTRL +F. The find function is useful to find characters or words in the document.
You can find phrases, but be careful as it is an exact search. If I am looking for “How to manage risk” it will return no results if the actual phrase in the document is ” How to manage your risk”. See the difference?
The logic is not as ‘fuzzy’ as say a search in Google.
Capitalisation is important too, so don’t tick the Case Sensitive option in the search box menu, unless you specifically want to use that feature.
Now a full search function also exists. Shift+Ctrl+F or if you can’t manage that combination go to EDIT and click SEARCH.
A Search extends the function to include the whole document, all pdfs on the desktop, in a specific folder, a drive or the entire computer.
The results appear in a table and you can click on each and go straight to the item – it is very fast, which is a huge time saver when you know you have read something but can’t remember where.
For example I have a number of pdfs on forex trading. I go to Search. Click on “All PDF documents in” and a drop down box opens. I choose to browse for the most likely looking folder – in this case my forex folder and type in my phrase ‘money management’ In seconds my faithful PC returns 12 documents with 45 instances.
I expand one of the listed items and it shows the phrase in its context.
e.g important money management strategies
good money management skills, patience, and so forth.
Clicking on one of these quickly opens the pdf and takes me straight there. Brilliant!
Of course for some, the drawback is that hand written text cannot be searched for in Adobe reader. PDFfiles can contain images of course, including hand writing.
If you need to search handwritten text then it will be necessary to convert the PDF to another format such as DOC. You could also save the file as text and then the plain text can be searched once you open the txt file in word or notepad.
Free Cell Phone Number Search
Cell phone numbers are generally not listed in telephone directories for reasons of maintaining confidentiality. In fact the very reason people go in for cell phones is because it offers them privacy. With a cell phone you can virtually choose people whose calls you would like to receive. No longer need you worry about being hassled by unwanted telemarketing agents, constantly pestering you to buy the most mundane things at all the wrong times. Such intrusion of privacy is not possible with a cell phone, to a large extent. Note the word ‘large extent’. No longer are cell phone number searches impossible. Thanks to the increasing presence of online resources which offer cell phone number search.
Most of these online search agencies can track cell phone numbers, using ‘reverse lookups’. You can now find out the name of the person using a particular cell phone number, his/her address, other related addresses of an individual and possible other names attached to these addresses. So the next time you want to find out a cell phone number, you need not despair. Just surf the net and you will be able to successfully find the all-elusive number. Log on and find out. Although most of these online search agencies charge a fee for these search options, you will be surprised to know that the number of online agencies offering this service free of cost is increasing by the day. Go to these free cell phone number search web sites and key in the relevant requested information. The number you had been searching for is listed in front of you in a matter of seconds. It doesn’t stop only with the number; you also get to find out the address. It is just like using your good old yellow pages or any other telephone directory.
